Install CouchPotato Ubuntu Command line

In This tutorial we are going to install CouchPotato on Ubuntu.

CouchPotato installeren Ubuntu

Make a connection with your Ubuntu PC. You can use for example Putty.

Update software list.

sudo apt-get update

Install the required software. Git and Python.

sudo apt-get install git

sudo apt-get install git-core python

Download Couchpotato to the hidden folder couchpotato. The dot makes the folder hidden.

cd ~
git clone git://github.com/RuudBurger/CouchPotatoServer.git .couchpotato

You can start CouchPotato with.

python .couchpotato/CouchPotato.py

CouchPotato Autostart Ubuntu

Remove old opstart scripts if you hav any.

sudo rm /etc/init.d/couchpotato
sudo rm /etc/default/couchpotato
sudo update-rc.d -f couchpotato remove

Go to the CouchPotato map.

cd ~/.couchpotato/init

Copy CouchPotato boot script.

sudo cp ~/.couchpotato/init/ubuntu /etc/init.d/couchpotato
sudo chmod +x /etc/init.d/couchpotato

Edit CouchPotato boot script.

sudo nano ~/.couchpotato/init/ubuntu.default

Change CP_USER to your own User.

Press CTR+X and after that y to save the file.

CP_HOME=/home/user/.couchpotato/
CP_DATA=/home/user/.couchpotato/
CP_USER=user
CP_PIDFILE=/home/user/.couchpotato/couchpotato.pid

Copy CouchPotato init.d

sudo cp ~/.couchpotato/init/ubuntu.default /etc/default/couchpotato

Make file excutable.

sudo chmod +x /etc/default/couchpotato

Autostart updating.

sudo update-rc.d couchpotato defaults

You are done. And you can do a reboot. If you want to test this AutoStart script.

sudo reboot

You can now acces CouchPotato through http://localhost:5050
