Note that the icon should look like the above. Otherwise you probably have the wrong version.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Enable SSH Synology<\/h3>\n\n<p>We need SSH.<\/p>\n\n<p>If you don&#8217;t have SSH enabled on your Synology yet, we need to enable it first.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"88\" height=\"98\" src=\"https:\/\/nzbusenet.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/synology-terminal-service.png\" alt=\"synology-terminal-service\" class=\"wp-image-4969\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n\n<p>In Synology we go to <strong>Control Panel<\/strong> and then to <strong>Terminal and SNMP<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-style-default\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"721\" height=\"520\" src=\"https:\/\/nzbusenet.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/image-116.png\" alt=\"enable ssh synology\" class=\"wp-image-49701\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nzbusenet.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/image-116.png 721w, https:\/\/nzbusenet.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/image-116-250x180.png 250w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 721px) 100vw, 721px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<p>Check <strong>Enable SSH<\/strong> service here and click <strong>Apply<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Access Synology from the command line with Putty<\/h3>\n\n<p>Now that we have enabled Terminal (SSH) on your Synology NAS, we can access the NAS via the command line. We do this with Putty.<\/p>\n\n<p>Download <strong>Putty<\/strong> here<a href=\"http:\/\/www.chiark.greenend.org.uk\/~sgtatham\/putty\/download.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">e http:\/\/www.chiark.greenend.org.uk\/~sgtatham\/putty\/download.html<\/a>and run <strong>putty.exe.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"250\" height=\"242\" src=\"https:\/\/nzbusenet.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/putty-synology-250x242.png\" alt=\"putty synology login\" class=\"wp-image-4973\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nzbusenet.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/putty-synology-250x242.png 250w, https:\/\/nzbusenet.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/putty-synology-150x145.png 150w, https:\/\/nzbusenet.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/putty-synology-369x357.png 369w, https:\/\/nzbusenet.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/putty-synology.png 452w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<p>Fill in the IP address of your NAS at <strong>Host Name<\/strong> and at <strong>Port<\/strong>10. then click <strong>Open<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>You may now get an error message, click <strong>Yes<\/strong>. This is because you have not previously connected to your NAS via the command line. This is just the first time only.<\/p>\n\n<p>You will now see a black screen with <strong>login as<\/strong>: here you have to enter a username with admin rights.
