In this tutorial configure Sonarr SABnzbd Synology<\/a> Nas system. We are going to configure Sonarr to download TV shows from the newsgroups on your Synology nas. Before you start this tutorial. SABNZBD must already be installed and working.<\/p>\n\n

Sonarr Media Management<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

Go to Settings<\/strong>. And then choose Media Management<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Turn on Show Advanced Settings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Check Rename Episode<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

You might wonder why rename? Well that’s very simple. quite what releases are encrypted. Which gives you strange filenames. For example, like \u201c02ffbc012101519975abb1a24015ef13.x264\u201d. It then becomes a huge mess. As a result, programs such as Auto-sub. And Kodi can do nothing with this.<\/p>\n\n

Therefore, you should use the following settings.<\/p>\n\n

Standard Episode Format <\/strong>\u201c{Series.Title}.S{season:00}E{episode:00}.{Episode.Title}.{Quality.Full}-{Release.Group}\u201d<\/p>\n\n

Season Folder Format<\/strong> \u201c{Series Title}\u201d<\/p>\n\n

Create empty series folders <\/strong>Yes<\/p>\n\n

Download Propers <\/strong>Yes<\/p>\n\n

Analyse video files <\/strong>Yes<\/p>\n\n

Sonarr Profiles<\/h2>\n\n

Now go to the Tablad profiles<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Click a section that you want to start using. And adjust this to your own preference. Above is my preference. It is best to leave the language on English unless a TV series is also available in your own language. But the chance is very small that this tv show is found. This is because these series are uploaded very little in the newsgroups. And if they are present in the newsgroups, the scene rules are often not followed.<\/p>\n\n

By hovering over the three indents. You can adjust the order of what Sonarr first tries to download.<\/p>\n\n

At Cutoff <\/strong>you indicate when Sonarr has to stop searching. When you’re done, click on Save Changes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

If you go down a bit you will seeRelease profiles<\/strong>. Click on the plus sign below, and add x265 to the field Must not contain<\/strong> if your media player can not handle this. Most media players can only handle x264. <\/p>\n\n

Sonarr Quality<\/h2>\n\n

Now we go to the Tablad Quality<\/strong>. By default, the Minuim Quality <\/strong>is 0. It is best to adjust it. So that it can be filtered. Beware! If you watch animated series, set this option not too low. Because these kinds of TV series are usually much smaller.<\/p>\n\n

Beware! As you can see, you also have to change the Title<\/strong> here to keep them close to the scene name. Of the dashes make a point and 1080p and 720p must be at the front. So as an example \u201c720p.HDTV\u201d.<\/p>\n\n

Sonarr Indexers<\/h2>\n\n

Now we go to the tab indexers<\/strong>. These are sites whose NZB files are downloaded automatically. The more you add, the more likely your TV series will be downloaded.<\/p>\n\n

The API key can almost always be found in your account settings on the NewzNab site. If you have done that, first do a Test<\/strong> and then Save<\/strong> . Now add all your Newznab sites in this way.<\/p>\n\n

It is best to leave some sites if you also have other programs such as CouchPotato for example. So you your API hits are divided. If you do have an account with a paid Newznab site, then it often doesn’t matter. Then you usually have enough API requests.<\/p>\n\n

Once you have added all your Newznab sites. You also need too activate the below Newznab provider.<\/p>\n\n

Retention<\/strong> Here you enter the retention of your Usenet provider. This ensures that no API requests are wasted, which your Usenet provider<\/a> cannot download anyway.<\/p>\n\n

RSS Sync Interval<\/strong> Set it to 20 or more. But not too much else it can already be gone thanks to DMCA. But certainly no less otherwise, your API requests are also very fast gone.<\/p>\n\n

Configure Sonarr with SABNZBD<\/h2>\n\n

You need the API key from SABNZBD.<\/p>\n\n

Open a second tab in your browser, and open SABnzbd. (default 127.0.0.1:8080) Go to Settings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Now get back to Sonarr<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Go to the client download<\/strong> tab.<\/p>\n\n

Click on the plus<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Fill in the above information.<\/p>\n\n

Name<\/strong> No matter what.<\/p>\n\n

Host<\/strong> localhost or 127.0.0.1<\/p>\n\n

API Key<\/strong> (API key in SABNZBD) comes from SABNZBD that you just copied you.<\/p>\n\n

Username<\/strong> Please enter your own user name of SABNZBD<\/p>\n\n

Password<\/strong> Please enter your own password from SABNZBD.<\/p>\n\n

Category <\/strong>TV This should be really TV, otherwise it doesn’t work well.<\/p>\n\n

Recent Priority <\/strong>should be lower than Older priority<\/strong>. Because it is often trickier to download old TV episodes than TV episodes that are just out.<\/p>\n\n

Now click Test<\/strong>. If the test has gone well click Save<\/strong>. If it is not good. Then you do have entered a wrong user name, password or API key.<\/p>\n\n

Sonarr Connect<\/h2>\n\n

If you have a media player like I do. Then you must specify the data. So that your libary is updated. With the latest TV series. If you don’t, you can skip these next two steps.<\/p>\n\n

Go to the Tablad Connect<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Click on the plus<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

These are my settings, but they are usually different for everyone. <\/p>\n\n

Click on Test<\/strong>. And then on Save<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Sonarr metadata<\/h2>\n\n

This option is only used if you have a media player. Otherwise you can skip this too. These are my settings for Kodi. This will ensure that covers are downloaded for Kodi.<\/p>\n\n

Sonarr Add Existing Series<\/h2>\n\n

You can skip this step. If you don’t have a TV series on your Synology Nas at all.<\/p>\n\n

If you already have some TV shows. You can add those in Sonarr. <\/p>\n\n

Go to Series. And then Library Import<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Press on Choose another folder<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Click on the Blue folder<\/strong> , and select the folder where your existing tv shows are. And then click OK.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Create Sonarr folders for TV series<\/h2>\n\n

First we will have to create the folders on your Synology where the TV series will be stored.<\/p>\n\n

Open a second Tab in your browser. And go to the webpage of your nas http:\/\/your-ip-adress-nas:5000<\/p>\n\n

Go to FileStation<\/strong>, and choose Create<\/strong>. And then Create New Shared Folder<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Give the folder a name and press OK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

In the next screen you have to set the permissions for Windows devices as well. Give your own user name and Admin read\/write rights.<\/p>\n\n

Now click on local<\/strong> users. And choose Local groups<\/strong>. You will now be notified. That you want to save your changes. Choose Yes<\/strong>. In the next screen, specify the local group Users<\/strong> read\/write permissions. Otherwise, Sonarr cannot write anything. And create new folders.<\/p>\n\n

If you choose the Tablad NFS rights<\/strong>. Then you can give MacOS and Linux users permissions to this folder. This is necessary, for example, if you have a Rasberry pi with Openelec to watch your movies.<\/p>\n\n

Sonarr Add TV Shows<\/h2>\n\n

Now it’s time to add TV shows in Sonarr. Now get back to Sonarr.<\/p>\n\n

Go to main screen.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Enter the name of your tv show here.<\/p>\n\n

Press on Add New Series<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Select the tv show you want to add.<\/p>\n\n

Root folder is the folder where your series are stored.<\/p>\n\n

Check the Start Search for missing episodes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Sonarr will now look up your tv shows. Via the Newznab sites, which you have specified. And then NZBGets downloads your TV show. And Sonarr moves the files. In the correct folder.<\/p>\n\n

Install media info<\/h2>\n\n

Sonarr needs Mediainfo to determine exactly what kind of files they are. Like 4k 1080p and so on and whether subtitles are available in the video file.<\/p>\n\n

You must therefore install MediaInfo.<\/p>\n\n

Go to the package center<\/strong> in your Synology. <\/p>\n\n
