We are going to configure Medusa on a Synology system. So that TV series are automatically downloaded from the newsgroups. <\/p>\n\n

Before starting this tutorial, the NZBGet program must already be installed and running. If thats not the case. See then the tutorial installing NZBGet Synology<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

Create Synology tv folders for Medusa <\/h2>\n\n

First we will create the folders where the TV series should be stored.<\/p>\n\n

Go to File Station.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Then click on create<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

And choose Create a new shared folder<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Enter a name. TV<\/strong>for example.<\/p>\n\n

Click Next<\/strong>three times. And Finally Apply<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

You will then see the folder on the left. In my case this is TV<\/strong>. Click on this with your right<\/strong>mouse.<\/p>\n\n

And choose Properties<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Go to the Permissions<\/strong>tab.<\/p>\n\n

Click Create<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

For user or group, select sc-medusa<\/strong>, and sc-nzbget<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Check Read<\/strong>and write<\/strong>. Leave the rest checked as well.<\/p>\n\n

And click Ok.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

If necessary. You can create multiple folders in the same way. <\/p>\n\n

But then select a different volume.<\/p>\n\n

Configure Medusa Settings<\/h2>\n\n

Now open Medusa<\/strong>in your web browser. http:\/\/ip-synology:8897 <\/p>\n\n

Click on the gear icon<\/strong> at the top right. And go to General<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Click New<\/strong>. And add all TV series folders you have created.<\/p>\n\n

And click onSave Changes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

If you are using Set as Default<\/strong>. Then by default, every series is added here. You can still do this separately for each series.<\/p>\n\n

Now go to Search settings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Adjust the Usenet retention<\/strong> to the retention of your Usenet provider. You can often find this information on the website of your usenet provider. By default, this is often set too low.<\/p>\n\n

Check the following two check boxes:<\/p>\n\n

Use Failed Downloads<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Delete Failed<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

This ensures that if a download fails. That a new nzb file is being searched. On the Newznab providers.<\/p>\n\n

And Delete failed takes care of it. That the failed download is deleted.<\/p>\n\n

You can remove foreign language<\/strong> if you speak it. Otherwise, foreign series may not be downloaded.<\/p>\n\n

If your media player cannot handle x265 content. Then you can fill that in at Undesired words<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

With Preferred words<\/strong> you enter x264 or x265. Because the advantage of X265 is that it takes up less space on your hard disk. But the quality of the tv show. Is just as good.<\/p>\n\n

And click onSave Changes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Medusa NZB Search<\/h2>\n\n

Go to NZB search<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

The default password of nzbget is nzbget.<\/p>\n\n

Search providers<\/h2>\n\n

And then select Configure costum newznab providers<\/strong>. Most built-in providers are only for torrent files. And you don’t want to use Binsearch<\/a>. Because you will receive a lot of wrong downloads.<\/p>\n\n

And click onSave Changes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Subtitle Settings<\/h2>\n\n

Go to Subtitles Search settings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

If you want covers and stuff to be downloaded for example Kodi. <\/p>\n\n

Then copy the above.<\/p>\n\n

If you want Kodi to be updated. Take over your above. And enter the ip address of your Kodi device.<\/p>\n\n

Add TV Episodes<\/h2>\n\n

Click Show<\/strong>at the top. And then Add shows<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Then click on Add New Show<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Search for your desired TV series. And click on search<\/strong>. And select it.<\/p>\n\n

Click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Select Costum<\/strong>and use the CTRL key to select multiple.<\/p>\n\n

Medusa is now looking for new TV series. To download from the newsgroups. This may take some time to download everything. It depends on how many api requests you have from your newznab providers. The more you add, the greater the chance that everything will be downloaded.<\/p>\n\n
