In this tutorial Readarr configure Windows. We are going to set up Readar so that the desired E-books and Audio books are automatically downloaded from the newsgroups.<\/p>\n\n

You must have the SABnzbd program installed on your Windows, and you must be able to download from newsgroups with it. If this is not yet the case, first see the tutorial Installing SABNzbd Windows<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

Configure Readarr Windows Media Management <\/h2>\n\n

We are going to set up Media Management for Readarr first.<\/p>\n\n

Open the Readarr<\/strong> web page.<\/p>\n\n

\"advanced<\/figure>\n\n

Ga naar Settings<\/strong>, vervolgens Media Management<\/strong>, zet aan Show Advanced<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Check the box here Books deleted from disk are automatically unmonitered in Readarr<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Under Root Folder<\/strong>, Tap the Plus sign<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Name<\/strong> name it books.<\/p>\n\n

At Path<\/strong> you specify a folder in which you want to save your books. And then click Save<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Vergeet het boven niet regelmatig ook op Save Changes<\/strong> te klikken als je wat hebt aangepast.<\/p>\n\n

indexers Setup Readerr Windows<\/h2>\n\n

You need an indexer. So that Reader knows where to download the NZB file.<\/p>\n\n

Go to Settings<\/strong> , and choose Indexers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Click on the plus icon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Choose Newznab.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

You must now enter the details of your Newznab serve<\/a>r. If you don’t have one yet, see the list of Newznab servers<\/a>. The more you add, the more likely your audiobooks and books will be found.<\/p>\n\n

Click on Test<\/strong> and then Save<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

Minimum age<\/strong> 5 minutes.<\/p>\n\n

Maximum Size<\/strong> 3000 is more than enough. If you only download E-books, this can be a lot smaller, for example 300MB. This increases the chance that less good books will be downloaded.<\/p>\n\n

Retention<\/strong> The retention of your Usenet provider. You can often find this information on the site of your usenet provider<\/a>. Usually this is two years or more nowadays.<\/p>\n\n

And click Save.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Readarr Configure Windows Profiles.<\/h2>\n\n

We are now going to set up the profiles for the desired quality time you want.<\/p>\n\n

Go to Settings<\/strong>, then Profiles<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

We are going to modify a standard profile.<\/p>\n\n

Click eBook<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

This is something you have to configure to your own taste, and what your device supports. The extensions below are for E-books. The rest is for Audio books, you create a separate profile for that.<\/p>\n\n

AZW3<\/strong> format is from Amazon.<\/p>\n\n

EPUB<\/strong> Supported by most E-book readers.<\/p>\n\n

Mobi<\/strong> is an old format and is no longer being developed. If your e-reader supports it, I would leave it on.<\/p>\n\n

PDF<\/strong> Supported by just about every device.<\/p>\n\n

Check the box UpgradesAllowed<\/strong>. Readarr then stops searching when the top result is reached.<\/p>\n\n

You can adjust the order by clicking on the 3 lines with your mouse. <\/p>\n\n

Click Save<\/strong>, when it has been adjusted to your desired profile.<\/p>\n\n

Choose Spoken<\/strong> for Audiobooks if you want to download them automatically.<\/p>\n\n

Check the box here as well UpgradesAllowed<\/strong>. This causes Readarr to stop searching when the top result is reached.<\/p>\n\n

You have to find out for yourself whether your device can handle these audio formats. For example, Flac can sometimes cause problems.<\/p>\n\n

Now click on the plus icon<\/strong> at the bottom of Release Profiles.<\/p>\n\n

At Must Contain<\/strong> you can indicate what should be present in the release name.<\/p>\n\n

Must not Contain<\/strong> you can block releases from certain release groups<\/p>\n\n

And click Save.<\/strong> You’ll probably have to adjust this later if you get unwanted books.<\/p>\n\n

Configure Readarr download program<\/h2>\n\n

Now to Download clients. So we can link Readarr to SABnzbd.<\/p>\n\n

Click on the plus icon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

\"sabnzbd<\/figure>\n\n

Select SABnzbd<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

You must now open SABNzbd because you need some data from your SABnzbd installation, these data are different for everyone.<\/p>\n\n

In SABnzbd, click on the Gear<\/strong> icon. Go to the categories tab.<\/p>\n\n

Add a Readarr category. You can also do this without it. But then you must also leave this empty when adding Sabznbd.<\/p>\n\n

And then under the General<\/strong> tab, you can find the above information you need.<\/p>\n\n

Now go back to Readarr. Fill in the above information. Beware! You need the API key<\/strong> and not the NZB key. click Test<\/strong> and then Save<\/strong>. If the test fails. Check the data again. SABnzbd must also be running.<\/p>\n\n

Make sure the above is on. So that a download is attempted again if a download fails. Your Newznab provider must support this. But nowadays they all support this.<\/p>\n\n

Automatically download books with Readarr<\/h2>\n\n

Now we can add some books.<\/p>\n\n

Now go to Library<\/strong>. then ADD New<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

You can search for a book name and the author will come up. Click here.<\/p>\n\n

NOW the following screen appears. Here you can indicate whether you want the Audiobooks or the E-books. You can’t do both for the same writer. You then have to install a second Readarr.<\/p>\n\n

Check the box Start search for missing books<\/strong>. And then click the green button to add this writer. It will now automatically search for the books by this author.<\/p>\n\n

Now if you go to Books<\/strong>. Then you will see all the books by this author.<\/p>\n\n
