In this tutorial we will install the program Usenet Explorer on a Windows computer. So that you can search and download the newsgroups. In this tutorial I use Windows 11.
You can download the latest version of Usenet Explorer here. You can choose to try it for free for 15 days. Or choose the paid version. If you want to continue using it, you have to buy this program once. This is currently 35 USD. This can be done via Paypal or Credit card.
your best bet is to choose the 64 bit version. Unless you have a very old computer you should choose the 32bit version. But that chance is very small these days. I therefore advise you to install the 64bit version, because this version uses the full power of your computer, if necessary.
Extract the zip file and place the exe file in the desired folder where you want to install the program. There is no setup to install the program. It only asks for a database location during the first start.
Now start the Usenet explorer exe.
Click More information.
Select Run Anyway.
You will then be asked where you want to save the Usenet Explorer database. Choose a folder here or create one. Or if you have already installed Usenet Explorer, choose the folder where your database is saved.
I chose this.
And then to OK.
This is true unless you have used a Usenet explorer before.
This was the tutorial Install Usenet Explorer on Windows. You can now go to the next step Configure Usenet Explorer.
It is quite simple to update this program. Download the latest version of Usenet explorer and overwrite the exe file.
