Usenet Explorer Setup News Server
We will now set up a news server so that you can download from the newsgroups.
Go to File and then New Server.
Enter the details of your news server here. This information can often be found in the welcome email you received from your usenet provider. Otherwise, you can often find it on the website of your usenet provider.
Please note! With this program you also need to specify the port after the : Without SSL this is often 119 and with SSL this is often 563. I advise you to use SSL because this is more secure.
Click on the 3rd icon at the bottom. See image above (yellow).
Right click on your news server. And choose Open&get newsgroup list.
If all goes well, you will now see the newsgroups appear on your screen. (purple letters).
If this doesn’t go well.

So you see in the above message that the login details I provided are not correct. 502 error message.
Downloading via the newsgroups with Usenet Explorer
With this program it is possible to explore and download the newsgroups. This is not possible with most Usenet download programs. They often only work via NZB files.
Now click on a newsgroup you want to retrieve the information from with your right mouse. And choose Subscribe.
Now click with your right mouse click on the newsgroup in question. And choose Open$get new headers. So that the information is retrieved from the newsgroup in question.
By double clicking on the newsgroup you can see what is written there.
If you want to download any of this. Select the files you want and a blue icon will appear next to them.
Then click on it with your right mouse button.
Then click on Download & save attachments.
You will then be asked where you want to save the files.
Select a folder. And the download will begin.
Usenet Explorer download via NZB files
Select Import above and then Download&save (auto). Everything will now be downloaded and automatically unpacked. The download will be saved in the Download folder. Where the database will also be saved. Unless you have changed the folder.
The download starts. If everything is green then it is in. The par files only turn green if they are needed.
