Yes Sonarr is free open source software. But to use this software properly, you often need a paid newznab provider for the newsgroups if you want to get the most out of it.
You can install Sonarr on almost any system. Such as Windows, Linux, Synology, Qnap, MacOS and many more.

Sonarr uses thexem.info and TheTVD. thexem ensures that the information is correct if the scene uses different numbering than the TheTVD.
This can take up to 24 hours. Have patience.
The series must exist on the website TheTVD. Please try again later.
This is due to TheTVDB there are then two series with the same name. The second series must then get a year. Please try again later.

This can be caused by various reasons that you can do little about. This can be caused by the newnab site you are using, but also by the series itself or another external source. Unfortunately, you will have to check the episode to see if it is correct. It is probably the wrong episode. If it is correct, you will have to add it manually.
This means that this version of the episode is no better than the one you set as a preference. So you can delete this version. In fact, it should not have been downloaded at all.
This means that this episode has not been officially released yet. Usually this issue will be resolved automatically within a few hours once the episode is officially available. If you click on the letter I in Sonarr you can also see how much time is left.
This can take up to 3 hours. This has to do with the cache on the TVDb API.
You solve this in the following way.
On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Privacy & Security in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
Go to Security and then click Open. Click Open Anyway. This button is available for about an hour after you try to open the app.
Enter your login password and then click OK
If you’re using Sonarr, it’s crucial to ensure both Sonarr and the tools it relies on are fully up to date. This is especially true for MediaInfo, a key component for correctly extracting metadata from your files. But that’s not all – if you’re using a Synology NAS, you should also pay extra attention to installing all necessary versions of FFmpeg.
