Create Shared Folder for Lidarr Windows

A shared music folder in Windows allows you to easily share files and folders with other users within the same network. Follow the steps below to create and set up a shared folder:

Create a new folder or select an existing folder

Go to the location where you want to create the shared folder (for example, C:\Users\YourName\music). Right-click an empty space, select New, and click Folder. Give the folder a descriptive name, for example, SharedMusicFiles.

Share the Lidarr music folder

Right-click on the folder and choose Properties. Go to the Sharing tab and click on the Share… button.

Select users and rights

In the Network Access field, choose the users or groups you want to share the folder with. You can also choose Everyone if you want to make the folder accessible to all network users.

Click Add and set the access level:

• Read: Users can view files, but not edit them.
• Read/Write: Users can view, add, and modify files.

Click Share and then click Done.

Open nu Lidarr in je browser.

Now in Lidarr go to Library and then click on Add Root Folder.

Click on the Plus Icon.

In Name, enter a name that will be visible in Lidarr.

Path: Specify the location you just created in Windows.

Monitor New Albums: Leave this option set to All Albums, so you can configure monitoring on a per-album basis.

Then click Save.

Root Folder: Leave this setting unchanged.

Monitor: Here you determine which albums of the artist should be followed. It is not possible to specify a specific album name, as Lidarr does not support this.

Monitor New Albums: Set whether to download all new albums or only existing albums.

Quality: Choose the quality profile you created earlier, or select Any. The latter is not recommended if you cannot play certain formats, such as FLAC.

Press ADD [naam van de artiest].

Lidarr will now start downloading the selected albums from this artist. Please note that this process may take some time depending on your Newznab or torrent providers. So be patient.
